I went to Bottoms Up in Lansing to support "Big Dog" Mercer. I knew he was ill. Supporting artists like Mercer when they are down is what I am about. So it was a pleasure to schedule myself there to listen to the band.
Taking Mercer's place was "Ang" Jim Anderson from Chicago Kingsnakes. It is always cool to meet and photograph a musician I have not met before. There is always that energy from not knowing what to expect. When it hits you, wow! Ang did just that. His blues carried me through the evening, even with a bum knee. When he switched to some Mississippi Blues, too cool to describe.
