Orchid Show - 2016

To continue my birthday weekend, my bride Christi and my son and I went to the first day opening of the Chicago Botanic Garden annual Orchid Show. We have been there in years past, however, I did like this first opening day because it was also the first day of the Chicago auto show. So, getting there early parking was easy, and an easy crowd to maneuver through. Also enjoyable was the freshness of the orchid season here.

Here are some of the photos I took. Enjoy . . .

The Desert Greenhouse seems to remain the same to me each year. My son thought it might be different to photograph this section in black and white, so I did. It did not turn out as interesting as the color, so here are the color photos.

Got to love people with cameras, trying to get any angle they can to capture an image that is important to them. The next few photos were on the way out. Many more people at that time than when we arrived.

I had to laugh after I took this photo. I had stopped to take several photos, and being the driver with the keys, I thought Christi and Nick would not get to far. So I yelled out "your not going to get to far without me", hoping I can drag my feet and take photos while I made them wait on me (I always seem to get left behind), then Christi flashed her set of keys. They laughed all the way to the car.

It was a very enjoyable show. Well worth the travel from Indiana. The Orchid Show runs to March 13th, so get your tickets and check it out!
