If I had the money, I'd buy that Janice Joplin piece of art.
Yes, I have seen many concerts: The Who, Aerosmith, Heart, Jethro Tull, Santana, Peter Gabriel, Sting, Cranberries, and more that do not come to mind right now. Both MilkBillies and Nomad Planets held a great show that was just as worthy, if not more worthy. I was super proud and happy to be there.
The album "Outside Abiquiu" is outstanding. Just as strong to me as "Who's Next" and "Madman Across The Water". Both those name artists albums I started with liking a couple songs, then wham, I liked all the songs. The same will go for "Outside Abiquiu".

That is eight (8) songs out of thirteen (13) that make the top of my list from this album, right off the bat. The others are tickling me for more, crying to me to be accepted, and they will be just because it is me.
Looking back at some of the big label bands of past, you sometimes here a theme throughout the progression of songs. Songs were written, consciously or not, within that theme or thought. They played out as a stories that sold albums.
"Outside Abiquiu" is not like the big label bands of the past, and better than today. These wonderfully written and played music stands on its own with it's own vibe. The album itself made of the thirteen individualistic feelings has been arranged in an order that takes you like a Nomad across the Planets. Every planet very different, unique, one of a kind. Pretty cool huh.
At the end of their "Outside Abiquiu" debut (they played the entire album front to back), they played a song from their early days which was a crashing hit for me, and they played one more song that might be released later this year or early next. Powerful songs. Wow, just Wow.
To open this most wonderful evening was MilkBillies. They do not have an album out. Their original music is worthy of one. Perhaps we need to fund it? Start a fund to help local artists record at Thunderclap? Anyway, they were great too and I am now going to follow them. I want more! Here are some photographs.

The lighting direction was pretty cool this evening as well. It cast some pretty cool shadows.
