Wes' Excellent Adventure XVIII

"Road to Nowhere". The Talking Heads have it together. Perhaps talking above our heads it may seem, for today it makes a lot of sense. AI Overview reports: "'Road to Nowhere' is about embracing life's journey, even with its inherent uncertainty, finding joy in the present moment rather than a fixed destination, symbolizing a personal utopia or building community as you go, and accepting the "doom" of life with a positive, almost celebratory, attitude."

My cancer is such that I need an operation, such that it will change my life, such that I may need another operation along with it for some other bodily part on strike. That would be five operations in less than a year. Seems like a road to nowhere, but in actuality it is embracing life's journey put in front of you, and the decisions you make. I don't really care where my destination lies. What I care about is this moment, inviting others "in", to bring forth a positive attitude and celebration of now.

On the drive to The University of Chicago, I look around what life has given us. At one point in my life I was disgusted with all the ugly manmade things that stood in our view, e.g. electrical lines, towers, steam clouds. However today I saw them as manmade marvels. I wanted to stop and take it in, photograph, create my story within my journey. Yes, what is going on with me sucks. But it does not have to be me . . . carpe diem.

On the way back home I did stop at locations I have not stopped at before. (Wanted to stop when driving into the city, but did not want to be late for the appointment.) My first planned stop on the way back home was suppose to be the South Shore Cultural Center. I have never been there. I was at the light to turn a sharp V-left when sirens were sounding. Two fire trucks entered under the Center's arch into the drive, so I thought it best to forgo the visit for now.

Next on the list was the fisherman at Steelworker's Park. As I drove that direction, I made a decision not to turn and follow U.S. Rt. 41, but to go straight to get a glimpse under the Chicago Skyway bridge, which then took me out to cross 41 and into Calumet Park. Roads less traveled, living the life's moment. That is when David Guetta's song "Memories" came on from my thumb drive. AI Overview of it: "'Memories' is about living in the moment, embracing nightlife, adventure, and creating lasting good times, often with friends, reflecting on carefree days, and finding joy in partying and letting loose to make unforgettable memories." Okay, I get it, and yes indeed that is what I have been doing for the last nine months. Just seems more important right now.

With that, here are more photos from Wes' Excellent Adventure, this one being XVIII. I am sprinkling in some past photos of me just to go with the two music references above.

My one and only date with Music Improv . . . what a blast!

Had to take a photograph of my bride Christi . . .
