Joliet Airport Festival 2025

A good portion of my childhood life was around Joliet, and the Joliet Regional Airport KJOT. As a teenager dad took flying lessons there, and worked there many moons ago and is where he found out about the rights to the Long Midget Mustang being up for sale, which he and Doc Torrey obtained. Then later my dad designed the two seater Mustang II to go along with the single seater Midget Mustang.

So, today was a happy day for me, to be on the grounds of this airport, and how it participated in bringing aviation together for many of us. I did my solo in our J3 Cub at this airport. I emergency landed with a 'dead stick' at this airport. My cousins and I attended the EAA Chapter 95 fly-ins at this airport. And today I saw my cousin's daughter flipping pancakes for us at this airport. Have to love family and family traditions.

Though this was held at the airport, and one would expect a lot of planes on display, this event was also for automobiles. There were a lot of automobiles, and great looking ones at that. Here are photographs for you to look at of some of the activities and planes / automobiles, starting with my Cousin's Mustang II airplane with my bride sitting in it.

Being close to Rt. 66, I took my bride down to the Plk-a-Dot Drive In, in Braidwood. I love their cheeseburgers. We sat next to the owner and did not realize it until he introduced himself to us. We had a great conversation with him. Afterward, we stopped at the new location of the Gemini Giant in Wilmington. One of my aunts lived there for many years. It was nice to go through the give shop just down from the giant. I really nice place. Need some photos from Christi to post here.
