I came home and asked my bride if she wanted to go on picnic this evening. She said yes. So we picked up some food and traveled to the Centennial Park in Munster. On the way I thought, why not go to the Community Veterans Memorial instead, and we did.
It has changed since I had been there last. There is now a very nice shelter with restrooms behind the memorial. So we used the picnic tables inside to sit and eat, then toured the memorial. The temperature was perfectly cool, with a slight breeze.
I was surprised that nobody walked by the approximate 90 minutes we were there. Not that we did not enjoy the place all to ourselves. Perhaps is was because it was near the middle of the week and people had things to do.
Here are some photos I took. Please take the time to visit the memorial some time . . . perhaps this 4th of July weekend????
