Griffith Central Market 6/1/18

Griffith Central Market in my home town of Griffith. Opening the music this night was Gerry Hundt, followed by the Corey Dennison Band.

Gerry is a blues guy who calls Chicago and NW Indiana his home. Gerry has played for Nick Moss, plays with our local blues brothers Kinsey, and for the Corey Dennison Band. When you listen to Gerry and his one man band (as it is sometimes called), you can sense the roots music that he connects with. An old time blues feeling. Something that at least I sit back and relax to, reflecting on how the music of old helped to make the pressure of the time (then or present) go away.

There is a little bit of everything at the Griffith Central Market. Buy a tie-dyed-shirt from Regina, art from my bride Christi, food food food, music music music, and all of this family and pet friendly. FREE to get in!

I met this dog last year at the humane society in Chicago Heights. We were looking for a playmate for our dog Bubba. They did not seem to be interested at all in each other to we did not get her. When I saw her here, I was automatically drawn to her for the reason above, but I had forgotten about the that time. My bride Christi had to remind me. She loved the attention I gave here, then went to the little girls for more.

Corey Dennison Band

Souful blues like you have never heard. That is the best way I can describe Corey. He is very entertaining, and he is not shy by no means. He has expectations from his band, and from his audience. For you do not go see Corey to listen to music. You will participate too.

Here are some early photographs of the band with some later in the evening shots further down this blog.

The Griffith Central Market has grown, finding more things for you to do as a family, including children's games and other types of entertainment.

The little lady in these next two photographs met Corey a little earlier, and new one of the songs Corey plays. He asked for her help during this set, however she was too shy to perform. Still, you can see the awe-ness in her face as she listened yo Corey, and sang to herself.
