I keep writing this, mostly to myself because it is infrequent when I visit the Garfield Park Conservatory. I first found out about the conservatory October 24, 2012, when I went to view some art on exhibit by the Chicago's Twelve, who I believe all were artists at the Zhou B Art Center at the time.
The visit was right after bad weather had taken out some of the glass ceiling, exposing the plants to the outside. They repaired ceiling, but years later you could see the stress on the plant life taking hold. Today, the plants look like they cannot stop growing! This is because of the great care taken by the people who maintain this conservatory.
You definitely need to visit it once if you have never been there. Then, you will want to come back some time. If you keep tabs on their website or become a member, you will see special events that are worth attending, giving the conservatory a different look for that time.
This was my first stop on the way back to The Morton Arboretum this day. Garfield Park Conservatory and The Morton Arboretum are two of my favorite places to drive to, within a reasonable range to drive for me.
Here are some photographs that I hope do the conservatory justice, enlisting you to become a Stewart of nature and to visit.
I like benches, because I always need to sit. Sitting is good for the sole, especially here at Garfield Park Conservatory.
Go to their website to sign up when you would like to go (day and time). This helps to level load the traffic of people going through. Don't fret either. There is still a good chance that a spare of the moment stop you could still get in. (It just makes it easier and quicker for them if you sign up online.)
