Another trip to my favorite spot, Sunrise Greenhouse in Grant Park. I have never gone there this time of year. Perhaps because I would have bought everything I needed several months ago. Still, I needed to turn in some plastic plant containers for recycle, and wanted to look for some more ground cover plants if they still had some. They still did!!!
It was sort of strange this time in that the huge parking lot was no longer an automobile parking lot. A lot of it has been temporarily converted to a "mums" growing area. I estimate over 8,000 pots of mums were there.
What was very surprising too was that there was hardly anyone there. Should have been expected I suppose, being the season to buy and plant has mostly past. A small parking lot (because of the conversion to mums), very little crowd, yet still enough inside to make the trip fun.
If you have never been there I do strongly encourage you to make a trip. Reminder, they are not open on Sunday. They still have a lot of herb, tomato, hot pepper, and other vegetable plants.
