Wes' Excellent Adventure XVII

"Round round get around, I get around, yeah" - The Beach Boys

Yes, adventures are fun because you look for the best in that moment, and collectively many of those best moments on that adventure make for an excellent experience. Here are photos of another Wes' Excellent Adventure, #17.

First stop was at Scheeringa Farms & Produce, located at 9436 N. Cline, in Highland. Though we figured we would not be able to let Chester (above photo) to see the animals at the Farm, we took him just in case. We did find that pets were not allowed near the other animals. Makes sense, but at the same time if you do not know and are willing to deal with it, you try. So, we just walked around and bought some ears of corn and blueberries. Oh, and a tomato for BLTs later.

It was nice to see they also had their 'harvest time activities' going for the children. (No photographs of that were taken.) 'Seasonal attractions, petting zoo, covered hayrides, and their Witches Kettle Corn Bin.'

Next stop was Woodland Park, located at 1613 W. Pine Ave., Griffith. This park is just down the street from our house. Sometimes we drive Chester there and sometimes we walk him there. This time since we were already in the car we drove there for him to stretch his legs around the 'Story Walk' path. This particular day 'Charlotte the Shark Goes to the Dentist' was displayed along the walk path. Story created by Catherine Tally. The story walk changes time to time, so it is worth going back every so often to read the new story. Some help from someone who keeps making the mistake (me), start on the left and walk around clockwise. I park at the right and keep entering at the right, seeing the story in reverse. Don't do that!!! lol

Bark, I hear and smell something . . .

And yes Chester would be right. There were three deer in the park. This is a small wooded area, so they were only maybe 50 foot away.

Yes, there is actually a sign at the starting point. Don't laugh.

Third and last stop, without Chester (dropped him off at home), Handmade Highland, which was held at Zandstra's Farm and Greenhouse, located at 10202 Kennedy Ave. Highland. Two of our artist friends were there, Dawn Diamantopoulos and Carol Estes. Both are very active in their crafts and in the promotion of events like this. We support them as they do us.

It is nice to see original art. It is nicer to see it with the artist who created, to discuss the work, bond with it, to see if it is you, then to make the decision to buy. Of course, many times you are not able to spend money even though your heart really likes, perhaps even feeling like you need. When it speaks to you, you know, without regrets. I have become better at this, understanding my own cycle of buying, and buying original art to improve the vibe that surrounds me.

The adventure was quick, but very fulfilling, and rewarding! Hoping to do it again soon.
